Actor Robert Pattinson never planned to becomes a vampire when he grew up. But despite having had other, smaller roles, he will always be famous as Edward Cullen, the vampire in the films adapted from Stephenie Meyer's Twilight series.

You know him as a vampire, but did you know that Pattinson played Cedric Diggory in two Harry Potter films? That's the role that made him famous. "The day before the London premiere, I was just sitting in Leicester Square... then suddenly strangers were screaming my name."

FROM MODEL TO ACTOR
Pattinson started modeling when he was only 12 years old, but stopped at 16. "When I first started I was tall and looked like a girl, so I got lots of jobs...the androgynous look was ool. Then, I became too much of a guy, so I did not get any more jobs," he says. Pattinson started acting in 2004, and got roles in TV and the cinema. "I was embarrassed when I when for the audition. I had no idea how to play Edward," he says.

Why does he think people are fascinated by vampires? "Vampires have a dark secret whick intrigues people. A vampire can be good-looking and dangerous," he says.
